How could the Town of Barnstable better keep our residents informed about such events and offerings?
Let Barnstable residents know the Town of Barnstable is listening!
The Town is doing a lot to inform us & invite our participation

I do not agree with several other opinions that the Town should be doing more to communicate with residents. I believe that we THE TAXPAYERS should take much more initiative to be more thoroughly informed on all major issues. There is already plenty of opportunity to get involved in any specific matter of interest; the Town website is very complete and easy to use & includes all board & commission services & their meeting agendas. The Town cable TV channel has continuing programming of most official proceedings, the Town Manager's office always welcomes questions and visits, the info resource telephone hotline is always available. I honestly don't know what else we should be paying our public servants to do. C'mon folks, we can have as much influence on Town managment as we want to have. All we need to do is take the initiative, make the effort, attend the meetings, read the reports, join your civic association & go to their meetings, stand up and ask the questions, make constructive suggestions & expect prompt reasonable answers. In other words, let's all exercise our rights as taxpayers by making the effort to stay informed, rather than become increasingly dependent upon our already very expensive local government.
